This page explains the information Cultivator Compass uses across Flowers & Landscaping and Vegetable Garden, how account-based data is stored, and the choices available to you.
If you create an account, Cultivator Compass uses Supabase Auth for email/password authentication. The same account works across both planning areas. Saved records are associated with your signed-in account and protected by account-scoped access rules or authenticated server functions.
Flowers & Landscaping can save information you enter about properties and ornamental garden beds, including ZIP code, USDA zone, bed dimensions, growing conditions, preferences, designs, shopping progress, plant records, care tasks, and journal entries.
Photos are optional. Signed-in garden photos are stored in private storage and are not part of the public plant catalog. Garden-photo access is limited to the owning account and, when the owner participates in a Garden Family, authorized members of that Garden Family according to their role.
Cultivator Compass can use a saved 5-digit ZIP code as the default weather area without storing precise device coordinates. The ZIP may be resolved server-side to an approximate area centroid for National Weather Service lookup. In Flowers & Landscaping, you may separately choose to save a precise garden location for more localized weather context. Browser or device location permission is requested only when you explicitly choose a precise or one-time current-location feature.
Vegetable Garden planning data can autosave locally on your device and can be exported as a portable JSON backup. Signed-in users can also save one private whole-garden workspace for cross-device restore. For an individual account it is private to that account; when the account belongs to a Garden Family, the workspace can be shared with authorized family members according to their role. That workspace can include multiple garden areas, raised-bed or in-ground choices, crops, site profiles, herbs and supports, variety selections, actual planting dates, and the active plan draft.
Optional location-based tools may send location information through Cultivator Compass to public data services such as the National Weather Service, USDA NRCS Soil Data Access, NOAA/NCEI, or a postal-code lookup service used to convert a ZIP code to an approximate area centroid. ZIP-based weather does not require precise device coordinates. The Vegetable Garden frost lookup reduces browser coordinates before lookup and does not save those device coordinates in the plan.
Cultivator Compass does not currently include a third-party advertising or analytics SDK. Private garden records are separated from the public plant reference catalog, and the browser app uses only the public/publishable Supabase client credential rather than a service-role secret.
Signed-in users can permanently delete their Cultivator Compass account from Settings & Account. Garden Family Owners with other active members must transfer ownership first. The deletion process removes private garden-photo files, account-owned vegetable workspaces, the ornamental and landscape garden-data tree, the user profile, and finally the Auth account. You can plan without saving a precise device location, garden photos are optional, and you can use planning tools before deciding whether to create an account. Vegetable Garden data can remain device-local unless you choose the account-based cloud backup. If you create an account, you can permanently delete it from Settings & Account at any time.
